Code of Ethics

1. Purpose

The IAQP Code of Ethics sets out the standards of behaviour expected of everyone who holds an IAQP certification or membership, delivers IAQP-aligned programmes, or works on behalf of IAQP.

2. Principles

• Integrity — act honestly and truthfully in all professional activities.
• Objectivity — base judgements on evidence and avoid conflicts of interest.
• Competence — work only within your area of competence and keep your knowledge current.
• Confidentiality — respect the confidentiality of information obtained through your work.
• Responsibility — consider the impact of your work on people, society and the environment.
• Professional conduct — uphold the reputation of the profession and of IAQP.

3. Obligations of certified persons

• Represent your certification accurately and use it only while it is valid.
• Disclose conflicts of interest to clients and employers.
• Report any breach of this Code that you become aware of.
• Cooperate with any IAQP investigation.

4. Breaches

Alleged breaches of this Code are investigated under IAQP procedures. Sanctions may include a warning, suspension or withdrawal of certification or membership. Decisions may be appealed under the Complaints & Appeals Policy.
